Sarajevo grew as an Ottoman city, was remade under Habsburg rule, became the site of the 1914 assassination that triggered the July Crisis, hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics and endured a nearly four-year siege in the 1990s. This route follows those changes without reducing the city to either a bridge or a war.
