Brno was a Moravian political centre, a Habsburg fortress city, an industrial powerhouse with German, Czech and Jewish communities, and a laboratory of interwar modernism. This route explains why the city cannot be understood as a smaller Prague and ends at Villa Tugendhat, where elite modern architecture meets the ruptures of Nazism and war.
