A university-city walk through Tartu’s Swedish foundation, German-language scholarship under the Russian Empire, Estonian national awakening, scientific internationalism and the creation of an Estonian-language national university in 1919. The route treats language not as decoration but as infrastructure: the medium through which knowledge, status and political identity were repeatedly reorganised.
