The local heritage garden and archaeological interpretation area use reconstructed and collected material to explain earlier settlement, crafts and landscape. It is best understood as an educational reconstruction rather than an untouched historic site.
Ask what practical institution makes the cultural story possible: a school, collection, audience, workshop or funding body. Fame survives because someone keeps organizing it.
Fame can obscure infrastructure. Schools, archives, audiences and local patrons are the mechanisms that allow artistic memory to survive beyond one generation.
That is why this belongs in a destination-length tour rather than a highlights list: the town’s character was built through many ordinary systems working together.
The stop is intentionally permanent rather than event-based. Its story remains useful even when exhibitions, businesses, opening hours or current transport arrangements change.
