From the hills around Kőszeg, the 1532 campaign becomes a landscape problem rather than a castle story. Armies needed roads, forage, water and time. The longer a campaign lasted, the harder it became to sustain large forces before autumn weather and strategic priorities changed.
That context helps explain why the siege’s outcome cannot be reduced to one dramatic final assault. Jurisics and the defenders mattered, but so did geography, logistics and the wider Habsburg-Ottoman campaign. Looking back at the town from here, Kőszeg appears small—and that smallness is exactly what made its survival so memorable.
