The General’s House points to Kőszeg’s role inside a larger Habsburg defensive and administrative system. Border security required more than walls. Officers had to coordinate garrisons, supplies, intelligence and relations with neighbouring estates and towns.
Administration is less memorable than battle, but frontier warfare was mostly administration punctuated by violence. The building helps restore that missing scale. Kőszeg was never an isolated heroic outpost. It belonged to networks of command stretching toward Vienna and across western Hungary, and those networks shaped local life long after the famous siege ended.
