Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned the palace at the start of the eighteenth century, with Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt associated with the design. It brought aristocratic estate culture to a town already shaped by merchants and churches.
Step back far enough to see the building in relation to its neighbors, then move closer and look for additions, blocked openings and material changes that reveal later use.
