Municipal history notes that the old parish church became too small and was demolished; the Immaculata monument occupies the area associated with its former Marian altar. The square therefore preserves an absent church through a later devotional marker.

The stone or sculpture is not eyewitness evidence. It is a later interpretation placed in public space, and its location helps explain the audience the commemorators wanted to reach.
This stop also helps distinguish the town from Budapest: the same historical forces operated here, but they produced a different scale and pattern of urban life.
