Look for service access, water routes, yards, chimneys or rail traces—the practical movement of material explains the site.

When production disappears, a factory can become picturesque surprisingly quickly. Reconstructing the working system prevents heritage from becoming decorative nostalgia.

The physical site survived, but the institution around it changed. That gap is one of the most revealing parts of urban history.

The permanent narration avoids current opening times, ticket prices and temporary displays so that the historical explanation remains useful over time.
