The Royal Castle on Przemysł Hill is associated with Duke, later King, Przemysł II, crowned king of Poland in 1295. The structure visitors see today is substantially reconstructed, making it a good place to distinguish historic significance from material authenticity. The hill genuinely belonged to medieval ducal and royal power, but later wars, fires and redevelopment repeatedly changed the complex. Modern rebuilding restored a strong silhouette to the old city and revived the memory of Poznań’s royal ambitions. That does not make the reconstruction fake; it makes it evidence of a later decision about which past deserved architectural emphasis.
