Ptuj

A chronological walk through Ptuj from Roman Poetovio to medieval lordship, monasteries, castle culture and modern Slovenian identity. The route uses a five-metre Roman funerary monument, reused as a medieval pillory, to set the tone: Ptuj is not one ancient city preserved intact, but a place where successive societies repeatedly reused the same ground and objects.
