Composer and educator Zoltán Kodály was born in Kecskemét. His international importance lies not only in composition but in ideas about music education that helped make singing and musical literacy central to Hungarian schooling.
The institute that bears his name turns a local biography into an international educational legacy. Kecskemét’s identity therefore reaches beyond architecture: the city also exports a method of thinking about how people learn music.
