The Redemptio memorial commemorates the 1745 act by which YAAS and Kun communities collectively redeemed their privileges and freedom under Maria Theresa after an earlier loss of status. The event remains central to YAAS civic identity.
Read the inscription date as carefully as the event date. The distance between them tells you when and why the community chose to make this memory public.
Keep two dates separate: the historical event and the later memorial. The gap between them reveals when the community decided this memory needed a permanent public form.
Seen on foot, the distance from the previous historic layer matters. Small towns often place elite, working and sacred spaces within only a few minutes of one another.
