The Scheibler family’s residence stood close to the industrial empire that generated its wealth. That proximity is useful: owners did not inhabit an abstract financial world; their status was physically tied to mills, workers and land. The palace later became associated with Łódź’s film culture and today houses the Cinematography Museum. The change of function captures a broader shift in the city. Industrial capital built lavish domestic architecture; post-industrial Łódź reused those buildings to support culture and tourism. Do not separate the elegant rooms from the factory landscape.
