Brama Poznania is a modern interpretive centre facing Cathedral Island. Its value is methodological. Much of tenth- and eleventh-century Poznań cannot be understood simply by staring at surviving façades, because later construction covers earlier phases. Archaeology, written sources and landscape reconstruction have to work together. The centre deliberately frames a view toward the cathedral, turning interpretation itself into part of the visitor route. That is a useful lesson for the entire city. Historic places are not self-explanatory. The story of the Piasts depends on evidence assembled from foundations, burials, river geography and texts—not on pretending that every visible stone belongs to the founding era.
