The modern Kunstmeile turns former institutional and industrial spaces near Stein into a cultural district.
This is a familiar European transformation: when older economic functions decline, heritage cities seek new reasons for people to stay, work and visit. Krems did not freeze after river commerce changed. It layered museums and exhibition spaces onto the same corridor that once depended on transport and storage.
