Large industrial ports usually hide behind fences. Linz has deliberately turned parts of its harbour into a canvas for large-scale murals, bringing contemporary visual culture into an infrastructure zone.
The result is not “industry replaced by art.” Ships, warehouses and logistics remain. The attraction works because both uses coexist. It reflects Linz’s broader strategy of treating industrial identity as material for cultural reinvention rather than something embarrassing to conceal.
