The pilgrimage church at Máriabesnyő also owes much to Grassalkovich patronage. Aristocratic estate building was not limited to palaces; magnates founded and supported churches, monasteries and devotional centres that shaped local religious life.
Pilgrimage traditions here include stories of miraculous devotion. Those should be understood as religious traditions rather than documented supernatural events. Historically, what we can see is a patron using wealth to create a sacred centre that attracted visitors beyond the estate. The stop broadens Gödöllő from royal biography into the social world of eighteenth-century Catholic renewal.
