Gödöllő

Gödöllő grew around one of Hungary’s most influential Baroque aristocratic estates, then became a royal residence after the Compromise of 1867. Queen Elisabeth’s attachment to the palace made it famous, but its later history includes Horthy-era government, wartime preparation, Soviet occupation and social-care use.
