By the early twentieth century, historic legitimacy was no longer enough for a successful city. Modern urban life demanded leisure, hygiene, transport and fashionable architecture. The Árpád Bath belongs to that newer Fehérvár. Its decorative design reflects the era when Hungarian cities were investing in public and commercial bathing culture as part of modern civic identity.
This was not a medieval revival but a modern confidence that the city could be comfortable, stylish and competitive. The bath is useful precisely because it breaks the royal narrative. Fehérvár did not spend a thousand years waiting to become a heritage destination. It kept changing with contemporary expectations.
