Malbork Castle

Malbork is more than an enormous medieval castle. From 1309 it became the headquarters of the Teutonic Order and the administrative centre of a territorial state, with monastic quarters, diplomatic halls, armouries, granaries and a river connection. This guide reads the complex as a working institution, then follows its Polish, Prussian, wartime and postwar reinventions.
